In Koffee Quiz, introduced in Season 4, Karan Johar throws a volley of Bollywood-based questions to his guests. The guests are given a buzzer each to press for the chance to answer. The first one to press the buzzer gets to answer, it is passed on to the other guest only if the answer is wrong. The guest with the highest points is the winner of the segment and wins a prize. A gift, usually one wrapped in a cover is given to the winner of the Quiz.
In 2007 a senior executive said that Koffee with Karan hamper has upscale products from brands such as Lancome, Frazer & Haws, Nokia and even LVMH. “Each guest that makes an appearance on the show goes home with a hamper worth over Rs 1.5 lakh,” says a senior executive from Sol, a Mumbai-based production house that produces the chat show. “Most of the gifts in the hamper are provided to us by the companies for free. The reason is they want the celebrities to sample their products. After all, the celebrities are their real consumers in India.”

In Season 6 Host Karan Johar announced that besides the hamper, the person who would come up with the Answer Of The Season (AOTS) would take home an Audi A5 Sportback. While many superstars including Aamir Khan were in the running, it was Ajay Devgn who won the swanky car.
During the ‘rapid fire’ round, KJo had asked him, “One superstition that you are guilty of believing.”
To which, Ajay’s quick reply was, “I had this superstition that all your films with ‘K’ work, till we did Kaal.” Kajol, who was his co-contestant, immediately said, “Okay, he’s winning this Audi. Here we come.” Kaal (2005) starred the Ajay Devgan and was produced under Karan’s banner, but the film didn’t create much buzz at the box office.
The Koffee With Karan team had narrowed down a few replies. During the finale, Kirron Kher, Malaika Arora, Mallika Dua and Vir Das turned judges and picked the AOTS. Ajay, who is passionate about cars, sure must be pleased with this win

Infamous Rapid Fire round of Alia Bhatt, when asked who the President of India is, Alia promptly replied with Prithviraj Chavan! But there have been many such moments in Koffee with Karan show. She failed, yet again, on her second appearance with actress Parineeti Chopra. While she got the correct answer to who the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh was, on being asked the full form of BJP, Alia just smiled at Karan. Parineeti, on the other hand, quickly responded with the right answer. Alia then starred as herself in a hilarious mockumentary Genius of the year, the video, written and produced by All India Bakchod recounting her fictional attempts to become more intelligent in the days following the incident.
While Alia’s wrong answers that stuck with the audience, it was actually Varun Dhawan who made the first blunder. In a rather prompt answer, he announced that the President of India was Manmohan Singh, much before Alia stepped in and stole the foolish sheeps’ hat.
Host Karan Johar told Anushka Sharma that she just had an Alia moment on the show when she gave the answer wrong for who the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. When asked who the Chief Minister of Maharashtra was, Anushka replied with “Ashok Chavan”. Anushka had come on the show with Anurag Kashyap.
Sonam Kapoor fashion icon and Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor was another victim of the Koffee Quiz segment of ‘Koffee With Karan’. When she came on the show with her father Anil Kapoor when Karan asked her to name the person who said “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind”, Sonam Kapoor quickly responded with “Robert De Niro” while the correct answer was Mahatma Gandhi!

The USP of ‘Koffee with Karan’ is Karan Johar. Karan Johar is friends with any and all in the industry, at least with all the top rung ones. He has great interpersonal skills and coming on to the show seems like a two-way pleasure for the host as well as the guest. Even the reclusive and interview-shy ( Ajay Devgn, Deols, Akshay Kumar) actors to turn up, looking all dapper. His “lie-o-meter”, “coffee hamper” and “rapid fire rounds” add more masala to the show. KWK has always been keen on being a show which brings out unknown facts and scoops about the stars. While quizzing the guests about their under-the-wraps love life, Karan quirks an eyebrow and smirks and smiles … so even when the star has refused point blank about their alleged affair, the audience knows for sure that there is more than what meets the eye in the rumours.

Season 2: Season Two of Koffee with Karan began airing on 11 February 2007 had 26 episodes. For the season finale of the show, Karan Johar introduced the Koffee Awards 2007, which featured the most memorable moments and episodes from Season 2 competing in different categories. The winners were chosen by fashion designer Rohit Bal, actress Malaika Arora and comedian Cyrus Broacha and were announced on the season finale of the episode, which aired on 16 September 2007 on STAR One and STAR World
Season 3: Season Three of Koffee with Karan began airing on 7 November 2010 every Sunday at 9 pm . It had 22 episodes Mahesh Bhupathi was the first ever sports personality to be featured on the show with his then fiancé and now wife Lara Dutta. For the season finale of the show, Karan Johar had brought back the Koffee Awards 2011, which featured the most memorable moments and episodes from Season 3 competing in different categories. The winners were chosen by film critics Rajeev Masand and Sarita Tanwar, fashion designer Manish Malhotra and talk show host Koel Purie Rinchet, and were announced on the season finale of the episode, which aired on 17 April 2011.
Season 4: Season Four of Koffee with Karan commenced on 1 December 2013, airing every Sunday at 9pm on STAR World India.
