Now, you can learn any skill that you want by watching YouTube videos. And that too for FREE. There is tons of information and resources available on YouTube to learn whatever you want including personal finance.  Finance is a big word that covers topics like Saving, Retirement Planning(EPF, NPS), Investing (Fixed Deposits, Post office saving schemes, PPF, Mutual Funds, Stocks, Insurance, Emergency Fund), Tax, Banking, Scams. Reading Books or Watching YouTube Videos?

Reading is an active process whereas watching is a passive one. Reading a book requires a lot of attention and focus than watching videos but reading is slow.  Videos are time efficient and more convenient option. The human brain likes to visualize things, Learning complex things are faster and easier with videos as compared to books. Books present the information in an organized manner, there is a structure in which you can approach the information.

YouTube videos are to the point, cover only a part of the topic. Yes, Playlists does allow one to collect the videos but YouTuber has to take an effort to make playlists and videos are of his/her own channel.

With respect to finance, we suggest a mixed approach, a combination of both, Books + Videos.  Watch videos for introductions to difficult topics, especially something unfamiliar,  video eases your process.  When it would take a lot of time to understand the topic, videos are a lifesaver. But you need to find what topic to start with. What to move to next. Then the book becomes a guide. You can read the chapter and watch videos or vice versa.
