Konark Temple on Rs 10 note

Konark Temple is the most popular and major attraction of Konark in Orissa. Konark is located at an  distance of 65 km from Bhubaneshwar and 35 km from Puri. The term ‘Konark’ has been derived from ‘Kona’ and ‘Arka’ that means ‘Corner’ and ‘Sun’ respectively. Konark is positioned on the north-east corner of Puri, so this is how it came to be known as Konark.

In 1250 AD, Konark temple was built by King Narsingha Deva to commemorate his victory over Muslims. The temple is basically dedicated to Lord Surya or Sun God. Due to this fact, it is also popular as Sun Temple. The intricate carvings and rich sculpture make this temple truly a sight to behold. Vittala Temple of Hampi on Rs 50 Indian note

Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in India located near Hospet town in the Karnataka state, India around 350 km from Bangalore. Hampi was the initial capital city of famous historical Vijayanagara Empire located on the bank of Tungabhadra River. Tenali Rama, the legendary poet in Krishnadevraya’s court who uses his ingenious methods to solve even the trickiest problems hailed from Vijaynagar empire. It is believed by Hindus that Hampi was a kingdom of Monkeys known as Kishkindha mentioned in Ramayana.

Vittala Temple is one of the prime attractions of Hampi dedicated to Hindu God Vittala who is a form of Lord Vishnu. A stone made chariot in front of the entry of the temple gives the extra beauty of the temple. Vittala Temple is on the reverse of new Rs 50 note. The Sangeetha mantapa at Vittala Temple complex is built with stone pillars with varying length and width with varying weights added on top to create different musical instrument notes when struck with tender sticks.

Rani-ki-Vav on Rs 100 Indian Note

On 10 November 2016, the Reserve Bank of India announced a newly redesigned ₹100 banknote to be available as a part of the Mahatma Gandhi New Series. On 19 July 2018, the Reserve Bank of India unveiled the revised design of ₹100 banknotes.

100 currency note comes in attractive lavender colour with the motif of Rani-ki-Vav((the Queen’s Stepwell) depicting the country’s rich cultural heritage. Located in Gujarat’s Patan, the 900-year-old architectural wonder highlights the sanctity of water as it is designed as an inverted temple under the earth’s surface.

Sanchi, a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh, Sanchi Stupas reveal the richness of Indian heritage. The Great Stupa at Sanchi is one of the oldest stone structure in India and was originally commissioned by emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE. The Great Stupa is built over the relics of the Buddha and thus to honour these relics, the Stupa is crowned with chatra or umbrella. It is around 37 meters in diameter and over 16 meters high.

Mangalyaan on Rs 2000 note

Motif of the Mangalyaan on the reverse of Rs 2000 note depicts the country’s first venture into the interplanetary space. It was propelled from Satish Dhawan Space Centre on 5 November 2013 by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), making the boldest statement till date about India’s foray into the next generation of space technology. The mission took off from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.

ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Mission entered orbit around Mars on Sept. 23, 2014, following a ten-month journey from Earth, making it the 13th spacecraft in history to begin circling the Red Planet. India became the first [country] to have made history by reaching Mars on its maiden attempt.

The $74 million (₹4.5 billion) mission was intended as a technology demonstrator, designed to show that India could get a spacecraft to Mars. The probe was outfitted with a camera and four scientific instruments to study the planet’s surface and atmosphere. During its first year in orbit, Mangalyaan returned data and images to comprise a 120-page scientific atlas. In March, the mission’s first science results were published based on the measurements obtained of the Martian exosphere.
